Awards Showcase

Default Da Rulz

Da Rules

1. Submissions are limited to three at a time, so that they can be reviewed and responded to in a timely manner.

2. Songs fall under the same guidelines as posting to open forum, as all can hear them. I.E. They must be PG, and English Only.

3. The Music Mod does not have links for any of the songs. You are expected to provide an mp3 link for the song that you wish to apply to your profile.

4. You may request your music by either posting in this thread, or by PMing the Music Mod. Please do not leave Vistor Messages asking for music, as these can get rapidly buried and overlooked.

5. Decisions regarding music are final, if a song is deemed to simply have too much Non PG content then it will be Disapproved, end of story.

6. The Music Mod does not do any song editing. (I have no clue how to do it xD)

Explanation of How Songs Are Approved/Disapproved

All songs are googled for lyrics independently of any links found here. They are then compared to the song link provided, and if approved, then placed on the profile in question. Any song containing profanity, or any other content deemed to be Non PG will not be approved as is, the best you can hope for is that you will be provided an explaination of what needs to be edited out before the song can be approved for Hall. All edited songs are also re listened to, and compared to original lyrics.

What Is The MP3 Link Sharing Thread?

The MP3 Link Sharing Thread is a valuable tool for those of you who cannot or do not have the ability to get ahold of links for your songs. Its a way for everyone to help one another out. You will post in that thread, also located in Suggestion Box and Site Feedback, asking your fellow members if they possibly have a link to the song that you are looking for. Also, you can post here if you have a song that you need to have edited, and you do not know how to edit. There are several terrific members here at Hall who do know how to edit, and are generous with their time about helping others out.

Help!! I Don't Know What You Are Talking About!! Whats A Link?!

Put simply, what we are doing with the mp3 link when putting it on your profile is telling Hall what to do when it goes to your page--play music. Currently, Hall only knows mp3 links. If we try to give it a link in a different format, it will and not do anything.

Your link that you send to the Music Mod or post here should look like this:

Quote:
http:// -your file name here- . MP3

Notice that the very end of it ends in .mp3 That is the important part, that is what tells you what "format" your link is in. In order for Hall to play the music, it needs to be .mp3 Otherwise, when it gets to your profile, Hall will just

OK, I Get That. But Now How Do I Get A Link?

There are several ways to go about getting a link. The first and the easiest way is to visit a site called beemp3.com, which KM found for us awhile ago. This site provides free links that you do not have to download to your computer. Upon getting to the site, you type in the song title and artist you are looking for, and then if the site has the song you are looking for, you will be provided with a list. Some things to keep in mind with beemp3:

1. Its picky about spelling. If you can't find the song you are looking for, be sure you have spelled the song title and artist correctly.

2. When you click on one of the songs, you can look and see the "duration" --how long the song lasts. Some of them are only about 30 seconds to a minute long, this means its a ringtone, not the whole song.

3. When you first click on the song you want, you will see a link to the left. This is NOT the link you need--this is only a link to the page you are on currently. You will also see to the left three letters, then a box. You must type the three letters into the box provided, then beemp3 will cough up the link that you actually need. You will know its the right one, because it will end in .mp3

4. Its a good idea to listen to the link first before submitting. Some of them are really good, some of them just plain stink. You don't want to have a song that skips, or only plays halfway through before it starts buffering like mad and stops.

Beemp3 Doesn't Have My Link, Now What?

1. The first thing you must do is get the song on your computer in mp3 format. If you have Itunes, you have the option for all of your songs to create an MP3 version. At the top of your Itunes page, there is a selection that says Advanced. In that drop down, there is a selection for "create mp3 version"

2. If you do not have Itunes, then I strongly recommend you buy and download the song from an approved vendor, don't just go willy nilly all over the net and try and find free downloads. Thats a great way to get a computer virus, for one. For another, you could get into trouble. I buy my downloads from a seller I trust, and know that this way I am protected and safe.

3. YAY you now have the song on your computer!! Now what? Well...this isn't the actual link that the Music Mod needs. (I know I know...SIGH.) In order for Hall to access the song, it needs a place to go and find it all the time, as it cannot always access your computer. Now you must find whats called a "hosting site" There are many of them out there, such as Fileave and Fileden, where you can create free accounts.

**Always be sure to have your Anti Virus Software current and running. Some sites are good, some not, and its always better to be safe than sorry. If a site gives you a virus flag, don't use it. No song is worth getting a computer virus for. There are loads of hosting sites out there, simply find another one**

4. Once you have found the hosting site that you will use, you must upload the song from your computer to the site. Every hosting site is a little different, so play around with it until you get it uploaded. Most times, its fairly easy to do, as they want you to love them so much you will get a paid account there.

5. Once you have uploaded the song, most places will offer you the option to go to your "files" This is where it will stick the song you just uploaded. And HERE (finally, I know!!) is where you will get the link that you need to send to your Music Mod, whom by now you want to smack for being such a pain.

6. It has been found that a link that is too long will be cut off, as the place where it is put on the profile page isn't all that huge a space. If you look at your link and its more than three lines long, it may be a good idea to rename it to something shorter.

WOW Thanks Music Mod!! But Now What About My Userpage?

Userpages are done a little differently. All songs for your userpage are to be submitted to the Music Mod for approval. Please specify when you post/PM if you want this song to be approved for your userpage, otherwise it will be assumed that this is a profile song.

When posting about your userpage, you are required now to submit your playlist to the Music Mod for approval. The Music Mod will look at all your songs, and let you know the decision on all of your songs. You may be required to remove some songs, or edit them before they can be posted to your userpage. Keep in mind, the longer your playlist, the longer its going to take for approval. Every song is googled and checked for content.

Once your songs are approved, you are responsible for placing them on your page. There is a terrific guide for Userpages done by Rockin Toon, found Here

When you post the music player to your page, you must remove the part of the code that links back to the music site. In other words, when people are on your userpage, they should not be able to click on your music player and be taken to another site.

Userpage violations are dealt with strictly. If songs/video are found there that are not approved, or not PG, the Staff reserves the right to remove the music player from your page. Repeated violations can result in not only a suspension from Hall, but also the loss of your userpage and profile priveleges.

As always, you should feel free to post or PM any questions that you might have, they will be answered as quickly as possible and to the very best of my ability!!
