    Default Official Site Rules!

Policies and Overview of Toontown Hall's Rules
Toontown Hall is a forum for people of all ages. Our goal is to provide a moderated, safe environment for Toontown players to converse about gameplay, participate in clans, and be able to express their opinion. As with any other forum, rules and policies must be enforced to keep topics and members civil. The purpose of this thread is to clearly lay out our policies.

    The Forum Guide
A link to our forum guide can be found here. This thread contains a lot of useful information and answers to many frequently asked questions. Be sure to check it out before sending a private message to a staff member; odds are, your question will be answered here.

    Registration and Account Status
For information in regards to account statuses and protocol, please review this thread.

    Specific Rules
All of these rules apply to what we call "open forum". Open forum includes the general forum (that is open to all guests), private forums that don't otherwise have their own rules thread, profiles, social groups, PMs when reported, etc.
    Inappropriate Discussion
This is a forum for people of all ages - this means that everyone from young children to adult seniors reside here. We do not allow any of the following to be posted in open forum:

    • Illegal Activities
    • Strong Violence
    • Sexual Content/Nudity. Please note that this also applies to in-game images, regardless of intent.
    • Age-Restricted Activities
    • Language meaning any of the above
    • References to any of the above.
    • Pornography - This results in an instant and indefinite permanent ban.

    Inappropriate Language
Profanity and certain words used in place of are not allowed. Profanity of extreme nature will result in a 7-day suspension up to a permanent ban.

If you post a word that turns into asterisks by our filter, it is never allowed. Please use the Preview Post feature before submission to ensure your words are not converted into asterisks.

Note that the word "crap" is allowed, however. Also, "Hell" is only allowed when used in reference to the location - using it profanely constitutes a rule violation.

    User-Title Filter
Please note that user-titles have special additions not found in the usual posting filter; typically, they are those relating to a forum position, such as "Administrator", "Moderator", "leader", etc. This is to avoid any potential impersonation. Please refrain from using such words in your user-title. Censored words or words skirting the filter will be removed by staff and subject to disciplinary action.

    Personal Information
As with all online communities, there is a risk of criminals using specific information as a tool in harming you. Toontown Hall staff already puts in a great amount of effort to ensure your safety is guaranteed, but we require that you also do your part and do not post or ask for any of the following:

    • Any information that could be used to track your location. We will allow up to state/province level to be posted, but anything more specific (such as districts, cities, addresses, landmarks, etc.) will be edited.
    • Usernames
    • Passwords
    • Account names
    • E-mail addresses
    • Last/Middle Names
    • Ages
    • School grade number
    • Pictures detailing any of the above
    • Contents from PMs/IRC Transcripts (Unless approval given by both parties, and contents conform to other site rules). Screen names must not be actual messenger account names.

Personal pictures of you, friends, family, past trips, etc., are allowed, but ONLY in an album that is set to "Private".

Lastly, please report any instances of solicitations for account information/phishing to an Administrator. These are punishable by a permanent ban.

    User Page Music
Any music intended for use within your user page must be approved by the Song Administrator prior to use. There are no exceptions to this rule, and violations incur suspensions.

    Non-English Languages
We allow thread titles, greetings, proper nouns, idioms, and other common phrases that are non-English to be posted on the forum. If you are unsure whether what you would like to post would be allowed, PM a Staff Member. Entire conversations in non-English are not allowed unless a proper translation is provided.

Please note that whatever is said in any language must adhere to all other site rules. Non-English music will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Song Administrator; approval is not guaranteed.

    Off-Topic Discussion
A thread is created for a specific topic. We expect posts in said thread to be in response to the original post or another post within the thread. We don't mind if a thread is steered in a different direction, but otherwise, it is against site rules.

    Outside Links
Users are only allowed to link to other sites that appear on the Approved Links List. If you would like to submit a link for approval, please PM any active Administrator.

For information in regards to mentioning other sites and other Toontown forums, please refer to this thread.

    Advertising
Unsolicited posts or PMs are not allowed. If you are a Clan Leader and you want to greet a new user/advertise to your own members, that is acceptable, but only one message per clan. Doing otherwise is just an annoyance to users.

Also keep in mind that any additional accounts created for the sole purpose of advertising will earn a permanent ban. Using your own account to advertise some sort of product for personal gain or an outside link may result in a suspension.

    Spamming
Posts with excessive smiley/image/text usage tend to cause users with older computers lag and technical errors. This rule is in place as a courtesy to those users.

    Signature Limits
Signatures are limited to the following:

    • Image totals cannot exceed 600 (width) x 200 (height) pixels.
    • Image file size totals cannot exceed 200kb (204,800 bytes).
    • No more than 10 lines of text.
    • No more than 4 images.
    • Font size for text must be no more than the forum's size "3".

Forum smilies are allowed in signatures and are not considered part of the overall image size so long as they are not overused, and you avoid using smilies over 50 pixels in height.

Should you incur more than 3 signature violations within 6 months, your signature will be removed and your ability to edit it locked for 30 days. 30 additional days are added for every signature violation made after this. You may also be subject to a status change along with this, depending upon what step you are on in the disciplinary process.

    Naming Names
If you want to rant about/talk negatively about someone who offended you, that is fine. However, their specific names cannot be mentioned under any circumstances (this includes the common TT hackers!). Please note that just because you do not name names however that you will not always be automatically exempted from flaming/trolling rules. Simply put, please keep it civil.

    Trolling
Trolling is posting for the purpose of provoking a negative reaction from another. It can be from the general forum or a specific person. If you see a post that is trolling, please report it to staff immediately and ignore it thereafter. Responding to any trollish posts may only further hostilities, and adding to it will result in disciplinary action taken against your own account. Simply put, two wrongs don't make a right.

It is important to note that we have many users from many backgrounds from around the world on this forum, many of whom did not learn English as a first language. It is because of this that correcting one's grammar or spelling in open forum is deemed to be a trollish act by our staff.

Keep in mind that this rule is subject to the severity of the post in question.

    Flaming
Flaming is hostile interaction between users. Posts targeting, threatening, extorting, or meant to harass, offend, anger, or insult a user will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Threatening physical harm against a user will incur a permanent ban, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Keep in mind that discipline for this rule is subject to the severity of the post in question.

    Discrimination
Referencing, posting, taking action, or other content based on someones race, religion, culture, background, language skills, color, or personally identifying traits is strictly prohibited and will incur a suspension/permanent ban.

    Preaching
We have no problem with anyone's faith no matter what it is, as long as they are comfortable with other's faiths and do not come seeking converts. This means absolutely no preaching for one faith or against another.

    Cyber-Bullying & Cyber-Stalking
Cyber-Bullying is when one person or a group uses modern interactive technologies to harass someone. They are strictly for negative reactions only to antagonize others. Cyber-Bullying will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This is not allowed in any of the forum, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, signatures, visitor messages, avatars, etc., nor is the forum allowed to be used as a medium for gathering information to aid in Cyber-Bullying or Cyber-Stalking elsewhere.

The practice of Cyber-Bullying is not limited to children and, while the behavior is identified by the same definition in adults, the distinction in age groups is referred to as Cyber-Stalking or Cyberharassment when perpetrated by adults toward adults. A pattern of repeated such actions against a target by and between adults constitutes Cyber-Stalking. Violating this rule is punishable up to permanent ban and IP block.

    Hacker Discussion
Discussing or encouraging hacking on Toontown is prohibited. Specifics about a hack's name, method or results will be edited and disciplinary action will be taken.

Note that there is a distinct difference between hacking, glitching, and using third-party software. We do not endorse, condone, or ensure safety with your use of any third-party program or glitch, but discussion is allowed.

    Plagiarism
Any posts, guides, images and/or other items that are deemed to be a copy of someone else's work used without permission will be removed as recognized or at the request of the creator.

    Impersonating Another User
Creating an account that is very similar to another user is not allowed. This may result in a suspension.

    Reputation Abuse
Any posts encouraging or discouraging the use of the reputation system for personal gain or otherwise will be removed and is considered an abuse of the reputation system.

    Video/YouTube
Videos are not allowed to be posted anywhere in open forum, regardless if the Video BB Code is used or if it is linked to (even if the link is approved). We allow Toontown-related videos to be posted only in TT Idol, a private forum that requires membership for and is restricted to those above the age of 13.

Mention of YouTube is allowed in open forum when it is in reference to TT Idol, or if it does not otherwise advertise or redirect users to YouTube.

    In-Game Behavior
Toontown Hall cannot be held responsible for any behavior occurring in the game, nor do we encourage or condone negative behavior of any kind. In the event you continuously and knowingly disrupt Clan runs, and ignore the Clan's rules for events, after you are sent notification by the Clan Leader(s), the Clan Leader(s) may hand your case over to the Staff. In which case, discipline regarding your actions against said Clan can be enforced in whichever form deemed necessary by the Staff of TTH.

    Rule Skirting
Skirting site rules is not allowed. It sets a bad example and will result in stronger action than normal.

You are not allowed to perform actions on behalf of a banned member; doing so will incur disciplinary action.

    Back-Seat Moderating (BSM)
It is a Moderator's job to moderate the forum, not your own. If you see a post that violates a site rule, report it.

    Discussing Staff Actions
This is prohibited in open forum. This includes, but is not limited to, discussing/referring to disciplinary action taken against your own account or another user's. If you have an issue with a staff member or the action they took, contact an Administrator.

    In regards to Illegal Activities
Any member participating in illegal activities (hacking, cyberbullying, harassment, threats against another member, etc.) will be removed from the forum and will be reported to the authorities presiding over the areas of the victim and the perpetrator. Toontown Hall will cooperate with law enforcement agencies and federal government entities and regularly reports any suspicious activity both within Toontown Hall and outside of the forum.

    Misc. Notes
    Additional policies and information.

    • Active Violations - Disciplinary action progresses (from reminders to warnings to suspensions, etc.) as they are committed. Committing multiple (3+) violations within a short period of time may result in your account being put on regimod (RM) for an indefinite period and/or a suspension being implemented. On the flip-side, leniency is offered to those that have sufficient posting activity with no violations for 4+ months.
    • Deleting Accounts - We do not delete accounts (with the exception of COPPA refusal).
    • Double Posts and Thread Bumping - There is a forum add-on in place that prevents the posting of double posts within 24 hours of each other.
    • Game Codes - Game codes are ONLY allowed to be posted for other members in our Code Swap Shop and in visitor messages, since these two areas cannot be accessed by guests. If you would like your code to remain private, please use a private message. All threads with codes posted elsewhere will be moved to the Code Swap Shop forum.
    • Hidden Links in Images - Hidden, unapproved links in images are typically removed by staff members, though not subject to disciplinary action unless abused (due to the nature of many graphics sites including advertisements). Please refer to this guide if you need information on removing embedded links. Watermarks are acceptable.
    • Name Changes - Please refer to this thread for information on name changes.
    • Posting in the Correct Forum - Please post in the appropriate forum. Don't be upset if we move your post to a more appropriate forum. In the event you find your post "missing", please attempt to locate it in what might be a more appropriate forum by using the Search feature.
    • Privacy Policy - Our Privacy Policy can be viewed in this thread.
    • Private Messages - We do not employ any board modifications to allow us to read private messages, and the board itself does not have a method for this on its own, so, as with reputation, rule violations must be reported to staff in order to be actioned.
    • Profile Music - We allow submission of songs for use on your profile. The iToons subforum lists songs that are approved and disapproved. All music is submitted by the member to the Song Administrator via PM, and by doing so you are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to distribute the file you provide. More detailed rules for music can be found Here.
    • Reputation - Because staff does not access this area, rule violations can only be actioned when reported to staff.
    • Shared IPs - If another account appears under your IP, you will receive a PM inquiring about it. Users are not allowed to have more than one account for themselves (note: staff members are allowed multiple accounts for testing purposes). Any duplicates will be banned. If another account appears under your IP that is a family member's, friend's, etc., then we will update a master list in staff area. We do this to ensure that each person has their own separate history, separate posts, etc.
    • Social Groups - Rule exceptions are granted to Social Groups on a case-by-case basis per Admin.
    • Using the Report Button - There is a report button for every kind of post; it is usually on the far right at the top corner or at the bottom left corner depending on what kind of post it is. When you report a post, all of staff are notified via a new thread in a private forum where we may review the post and discuss action needed. Do not reply to a thread for the purposes of pointing out a site rule violation (back seat moderating); use the report button.
    • Rule Changes/Adjustments - We reserve the right to adjust the rules as we deem necessary contingent on newly discovered situations. Staff reserves the right to consult other staff members on a case-by-case basis if a disciplinary decision is unclear based on the member's actions.
    • Content Removal Disclaimer - The administration reserves the right to remove or edit any content as it deems necessary.
