    Default HELP! I Keep Disconnecting!

Technical Toons! I need your help BADLY! I can't stay on Toontown for at least 5-10 minutes, which is aggravating me very much! I can't even get Notices, Buildings, Options, Merits, or even Cogbucks done due to this! My friends say I have the "DC Disease". I am real clueless as of how to cure this "disease". I need YOUR help. Anyone out there? I just can't live with this DC thing.. I just love Toontown and I want to max my VP badly! Need to get some SOS Shopping done so I can solo the VP before I max, too...
    ~-~-~-~-~-~
I can't do this myself.. Yes, I have a wireless connection but I have been with Toontown for 4 years, and NOTHING this bad has happened! I have moved a number of times, and I haven't had but maybe 10 disconnections within 4 years. Please help!

It could be as simple as needed to defrag your pc or use CCleaner to clean the mess the web leaves behind. Hopefully thats all it is. Good luck

Many reasons could cause this. First find out if it's an internal problem of your internet connection or maybe some external issue that you cannot influence yourself but you need to complain with your provider and make them check the line.

Check if your router is disconnecting when you get booted from the game. So maybe its not your computer but your internet provider causing this mess. You can tell the router is losing connecting by some red light showing for a moment.
Are there other computers in your household? Do they lose the internet as well?
Are you only getting booted from Toontown or is your network completely off for that moment?

I'm already thinking gaming port settings. But Like Trixie says, we need more info.

As a professional computer technician I can tell you there are many reasons for disconnecting. But the absolute first thing you need to do is make sure your computer is free from viruses, malware and spyware because this is, without a doubt, the most common reason for ALL computer problems. Since you said you've been playing TT for four years without a problem, I suspect your computer has recently been infected with something nasty. Hope this helps and good luck!

Hey guys, I just got back from fishing in real life. But, I haven't gotten any viruses at all. I don't go out and download stuff. I have only downloaded art programs such as IconArt. I haven't had any problems, and my anti-virus says that my computer is clean. @genelv
I suspect your computer has recently been infected with something nasty.
Also, I don't really know any further information. I am not sure if I have CCleaner.

No, I have NOT gotten kick out of my connection, nor has my router recently shut down or anything in that general idea.
Are there other computers in your household? Do they lose the internet as well?
Are you only getting booted from Toontown or is your network completely off for that moment?

Yes, there is about 4. My dad uses his air card provided from Verizon Wireless, and my Mom uses 2 computer for the family business. Though, my Mom doesn't use her computer that much. We only keep 2 computers on our family connection, though. We even put a special passcode for the internet so our neighbors don't steal our Wi-Fi like they did last time. No, they don't lose internet unless ALL lose internet. The only causes of this could be : Storm, Blackout, or anything in that general area. I only get booted from Toontown, whereas my internet connection stays up.

I'm already thinking gaming port settings. But Like Trixie says, we need more info.

I don't know how to do gaming port settings or anything like that. What type of information would you need possibly? I think I just got as descriptive AP ( As Possible ) in this reply. Anyways..

    Thanks,

Sorry to hear that you're having issues):
As everyone else has stated, make sure your computer is free from viruses, etc.
It's very strange that you've been playing perfectly for 4 years, then this starts.
Maybe try a full scan. If the problem persists, maybe take it in to a computer repair store.
    Good luck!(:

Thanks, Firedog. I know, right? I just can't think of HOW this could just suddenly happen.
And I have done 2 scans now, both read clean. If I take this computer to the repair store, it'll probably cost HUNDREDS of dollars. I can't afford that, and my parents hardly buy me anything other than food. Anyways, Thanks again, Firedog.

Sorry to hear the bad news.

Been playing 4 years, moved several times; and no issues.
Has all of this been wireless?
Sounds very very lucky to me

As another person stated, something has had to change for problems to suddenly happen. The fact that is happens very fast and repeatedly makes it a little easier to find too. Could be either software, or hardware. Need to check the basics before we get too specific on this glitch hunt.

    Let's start with software:
No virus, or spyware (checked this already I think)
Did you recently upgrade virus protection and turn on a new firewall?
[Check existing firewall settings if you have the same software)
    Are there any new programs (on this PC and/or the whole house pc network) that use lots of network bandwidth;
IE. Filesharing, Torrent downloaders, Netflix, etc.
If yes tell us which ones?
Have you installed any new drivers for your wireless hardware in PC?

    Next Hardware:
Any change to current PC hardware or the network you connect to, since you last ran DC free?
Still using same wireless card in PC or laptop?
Still uing same modem that connects your wireless signal to cable or DSL phone line?
Any new smart internet TV's, media pc's, or video sharing (cable or satelite) hardware in the house using same wireless?

If it is not a virus, and there are no hardware changes, then we need to check some details on exiting installation.

If you are using the exact same cable or DSL modem for the last 4 years to connect to internet; then I would worry about your internet service in general. First, my cable/DSL people have indirectly forced me to buy new hardware every two years, so i can maintain compatibility with new faster networks they install. Secondly, getting wireless hardware to last for 4 years, means it may be old and tired. If either of these is true, you entire network should have hiccups and problems. Need to verify overall network performance first.

As i think about details to check on existing configuration, my first thought is the software upgrade in the wireless modem has reset your port triggering settings. You do have port triggers set up in wireless modem for TT right? Have these changed?

There are other detailed things we can check, but without removing these most likely and big impact items; this remote PC repair/consulting invoice gets too expensive. )

Post some answers and lets see what we can do?

Hi again. Unfortunately, this is a mistake many people make. Just because your anti-virus says your computer is clean, this may not mean it is. Do you have the latest version of your anti-virus program? More importantly, do you have all the current updates installed? Even then, having only anti-virus protection isn't enough today. You could have malware and/or spyware that your AV program can't detect. To detect those you really need an Internet Security program which protects against viruses, malware, spyware, hackers, identity theft, etc.

Anyway, that being said, what you should do next is test TT on one, or all, of your other family computers. Do they work ok or do they have the same problem? Test those and let us know. Good luck!
